Measures of asymmetry

Definition:

They serve to study the direction and strength of the asymmetry of the distribution of the feature. Asymmetric characteristics distribution is the opposite of symmetric distribution, where the arithmetic mean, median and dominant values are the same. In practice, classic asymmetry, positional asymmetry, and Pearson's slope coefficient are used. Positive indications of these measures speak of right-sided asymmetry (positive), negative indications of left-sided asymmetry. Zero means the symmetry of the distribution of the feature to be examined, i.e. it points to the situation where the abundance of the variants of the examined feature is evenly distributed around the value of the corresponding measure of the central tendency.
