Medical profession


Definition:

Profession practiced by person entitled based on separate legislation to provide health care services and the holder of a purchase of professional qualifications for the provision of health services in the specified range or in a specific area of medicine.



One group of medical professions includes doctors and dentists, medical assistants, nurses and midwives, laboratory diagnosticians, pharmacists and paramedics. These professions are regulated by separate laws. Another group of medical professionals are people who hold a professional qualification to provide health care services in a particular field of medicine for which there is no specific legislation. This group includes, among others physiotherapists, dental technicians, speech therapists.
