Large heads index (PL)


Definition:
Large heads index (PL) means a standard measurement unit that allows the aggregation of the various species of livestock in order to enable them to be compared. Coefficients by Goltz are used generally in statistics. A body weight of cow i.e. 500 kg is accepted as a base allowing recalculation of large heads index. In order to convert the number of livestock in heads into Large heads index (PL) the following coefficients are used for four basic species of farm animals: Cattle - 0,80, Pigs - 0,14, Sheep - 0,08, Horses - 1,00
