Genetically modified organism


Definition:

Other than human organism, in which genetic material was modified in way not occurring in natural conditions, in result of crossing or natural recombination, in particular using technique:

a) recombination of nucleic acids involving the formation of new combinations of genetic material through embedding nucleic acid molecules obtained in any way outside the body into a virus, bacterial plasmid or vector and transferring them to the recipient in which they do not occur in natural conditions, but in which they are able to permanent replication,

b) direct inclusion of genetic material prepared extraorganically, in particular: microinjection, macroinjection and microcapsulating,

c) combining cells, including protoplast fusions, or hybridization techniques which result in the formation of live cells with a new combination of hereditary genetic material by fusion of two or more cells.
