United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)

United Nations Children’s Fund LogoThis humanitarian and development organization being a part of the United Nations system, acting for children. It is headquartered in New York. After 1954, when included permanently into the UN family, the scope of UNICEF’s actions expanded. It takes steps to improve children living conditions, mobilizes the political forces and material resources to help countries, especially the developing ones, to ensure children and their families have access to basic services.

UNICEF deals with medical care, helps in crisis situations, ensures basic education to kids, especially in developing countries. A key element of the organization's activities are child help programs conducted in the field. Each UNICEF national office performs the mission of the organization through the implementation of assistance programs, carried out jointly with the government of a given state. UNICEF had a huge impact in adopting the UN Convention on the Right of the Child in 1989.

UNICEF’s work is grounded in empirical data, rigorous research and thoughtful analysis. It combines its experience and well-collected evidence and analysis to create programs, campaigns and initiatives wherever they are needed most.

Every year Polish official statistics sends to UNICEF statistical data in the form of questionnaires, updating the UNICEF data base used for research.
