Module survey ‘Young people on the labour market’ was carried out within the Labour Force Survey (LFS) in 2024. The module covered people aged 15-34, and the main aim of the survey was obtaining information on the scale and reasons for interruption of formal education by young people and at what level of education these interruptions occurred. The survey results can also be used to assess the extent to which the education (level and field) and skills of young people were matched to the work they performed. Moreover, in order to better understand the educational path of people with tertiary education, they were asked whether, in addition to their tertiary education, they had obtained vocational education at a lower level of education.
The module survey was carried out on part of the sample of the LFS throughout all quarters of 2024. Presented below data are the average results for the whole 2024 year1. The basis for presented results are the respondents' answers obtained during interviews conducted by statistical interviewers of the Statistics Poland in the dwellings selected for the survey.

In 2024 employed persons aged 15-34 constituted 59.8% of the total population of this age group, employment rate of young people was therefore slightly higher (by 3.0 percentage points) than that recorded for the entire surveyed population of persons aged 15-89 (56.8%).

For the purposes of the module survey and the results presented here, it was assumed that ‘young people’ are defined as people aged 15-34. Basic scope of the LFS enables a quarterly broad characterization of people on the labour market, including young people. In this study, due to its synthetic nature of ‘News release’ series, the focus was primarily on presenting the results of the module LFS survey, dedicated to young people, expanding the scope of information about this group of people compared to that available in the core LFS. More about LFS and the attached module survey is included in the methodological notes at the end of this elaboration.

1The data (percentages) quoted in the analysis do not always add up to 100%, mainly due to the fact that some respondents were unable to provide an answer (especially due to lack of knowledge about the person on whose behalf they were responding but they did not have full knowledge of the course of this person's education path).
