We are pleased to present this publication containing the results of the experimental study ‘Diversity of occupations in the labour market in Poland’. This study was produced in response to the growing demand for information on the characteristics of the occupational structure of the Polish labour market and constitutes an important complement to the analyses conducted to date in this area. Knowledge of the occupations performed by employed persons is essential for the effective shaping of employment policy and the development of an education system that responds to the needs of the labour market. Data in this area are collected by public statistics primarily through the National Population and Housing Census and survey such as the quarterly Labour Force Survey and the Structure of wages and salaries survey. However, these sources do not provide highly detailed information at the lower levels of the Classification of Occupations and Specialisations at high frequency. The use of administrative sources, which form the basis of the present study, makes it possible to eliminate these limitations. They ensure both a high level of data detail and the possibility of frequent and regular updates, which facilitates an effective response to dynamic changes in the labour market. |
