Financial results of banks in 2024
In 2024 the net financial result of the banking sector amounted to PLN 42.0 bn, in comparison with PLN 27.6 bn in 2023. The total bank balance sheets increased by 10.8% y/y and amounted to PLN 3 317.3 bn. The value of loans for the non-financial sector increased by 4.1% y/y to PLN 1 194.0 bn and the value of deposits of this sector increased by 7.8% y/y to PLN 1 943.2 bn.

Financial results of insurance companies in 2024
The overall net financial result of insurance companies in 2024 was higher than a year earlier and amounted to PLN 10.0 billion (PLN 9.4 billion in 2023). This was mainly influenced by the improved performance of life insurance companies (Branch I), which increased by 17.1% year-on-year.

Occupancy of tourist accommodation establishments in 2024
In 2024, 38.8 million tourists were accommodated in tourist accommodation establishments, with 97.6 million overnight stays. Compared to 2023, it was more by 7.2% and 5.2%, respectively. The occupancy rate of bed places in all tourist accommodation establishments in 2024 amounted to 40.1% and was lower by 0.4 percentage point compared to 2023.

Accidents at work in 2024 – preliminary data
67.0 thousand persons injured in accidents at work were reported in 2024, i.e. 2.4% persons fewer than in 2023. The number of injured persons per 1,000 employed persons (the incidence rate) decreased from 4.90 to 4.80.

In 2024, art galleries organised 4.1 thousand exhibitions in Poland, which were visited by 4.5 million people. In comparison to 2023, the number of exhibitions increased by 11.0% and the number of visitors – by 12.0%.

Foreign trade turnover in January – February 2025 in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 240.7 bn, while in imports - PLN 245.7 bn. The negative balance reached the level of PLN 5.0 bn. Statistics Poland presents updated GDP estimate (annual and quarterly) for years 2023-2024. The released data on GDP and its elements was revised in comparison with the previously published estimates on 27.02.2025. The result of the revised estimate of gross domestic product (annual and quarterly) are changes in absolute levels and growth rates of real GDP and its components.
