From July 12–18, 2026, representatives of the Statistics Poland and the Statistical Office in Rzeszów participated in a working meeting in the Republic of Korea, organized as part of the Poland–Korea Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) 2025/2026. The project “Strengthening Urban Tourism Using Smart City Data,” carried out in cooperation with the Korea Development Institute (KDI), aims to develop modern methods for utilizing data from Smart City solutions for tourism statistics and to foster cooperation between Poland and the Republic of Korea in the field of public statistics.

During the meeting, the Polish delegation presented the project’s results to date and the midterm report. Participants learned about Korean approaches to tourism statistics and tourism policy, and took part in study visits focused on the use of urban data in statistical analyses. Meetings with experts from the Republic of Korea also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss solutions that could be applied in Polish public statistics.

The implementation of the project contributes to strengthening the capabilities of the Statistics Poland in the use of new data sources and innovative analytical methods. At the same time, the project has created conditions for deepening cooperation between the statistical agencies of Poland and the Republic of Korea and for exchanging experiences that can support the further development of tourism statistics and modern analytical tools tailored to the needs of contemporary cities.
