On 11 November , we celebrate National Independence Day. After 123 years of partition, the Republic of Poland regained independence.

On 13 July, 1918, the Regency Council issued a Rescript on the establishment and organization of the Statistics Poland. The first director of the Statistics Poland was Prof. Józef Buzek, a statistician, economist and politician, who was appointed to this position on 8 November, 1918. In the years 1918-1919, the statistics Poland was located at Jasna 10 Street in Warsaw.

In the interwar period, Polish statisticians conducted two population censuses, in 1921 and 1931. The results of the 1921 and 1931 censuses and other statistical studies of historical value are available in digital form at the Central Statistical Library https://cbs.stat.gov.pl/. The CSL collection can also be used on-site, at the library's headquarters, located in the Statistics Poland, at Aleja Niepodległości 208 in Warsaw.
