On 20 October 2024, we celebrate the European Statistics Day. This year it runs under the theme ‘Official Statistics, a window to understanding society”.

It is a celebration of statistics that was established at the initiative of the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC) with the support of the European Statistical System (ESS) and the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).

The European Statistics Day is an excellent opportunity to raise European citizens' awareness of the indispensable role of official statistics in a democratic society, to highlight its importance as a public good and to promote the involvement of key stakeholders. It is also a moment to express pride in the statistical profession and appreciate the work of statistical offices.

On this Day, we particularly encourage people to develop their knowledge of statistics and to use the information resources of the CSO and Statistical Offices, to analyse social and economic processes based on official statistical data
