Territorial units of religious denomination


Definition:
The territory on which adherents of a given church or religious association reside. Such units in most denominations consist of a hierarchical structure, e.g., parish (community, congregation) dekanat, diocese (district), province (metropolis), each differentiated based on territorial coverage and filled function.
