Tanker


Definition:

Cargo vessel for transportation of liquid cargo, i.e. crude oil carrier, oil product carrier, gas tanker, chemical cargo carrier, tanker for various liquid cargo (wine, alcohol, vegetable oil, etc.).



The hull of a tanker is divided by watertight crosswise and lengthwise bulkheads into many tanks, in order to avoid the danger of flow of cargo during rolling of a ship. A system of pipelines connecting individual tanks and powerful pumps serve reloading of cargo. The characteristic feature of a tanker is lack of masts with booms and stages running across the middle of the deck from the bow to stern.
