Price index of sold production of industry

Definition:

Index illustrates basic price changes in industry i.e. in four sections according to the Polish Classification of Activities (PKD) 2007: mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and also water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities. Index is calculated on the basis of a monthly survey of prices and services representatives (about 30.0 thous. monthly) received by purposively selected economic entities (about 3.3 thous. monthly), in which the number of employees amounts to 10 and more persons. The survey covers data on prices of representative items (two categories: producer's and basic) and value of their sale. Price indices on the base - previous month=100 the following calculations are made: - at enterprise level - as weighted averages of individual price indices of representative items in using, as their weight system, the value of their sale in the surveyed month, - at group, division and section level - as averages of price indices of aggregates at lower levels weighted by the full value of their sale in the surveyed month. Price indices on other bases are calculated as averages of price indices of aggregates at lower levels weighted by the value of their sale of the refence year (change every 5 years, e.g. 2010,2015), which is updated monthly by the price and sale structure changes, occurring in subsequent months of a year, to which the price indices refer.

In the case of the DG-1 report, the variable has estimated nature; the estimated prices indice of sold production is given for the reference month in relation to the previous month for the total enterprise. To estimate the indice, data on the sales values excluding VAT and excise taxes are used. The indice is finally developed on the basis of the prices levels of the representative items of goods and services reported by the enterprise on the C-01 form.
