Transport of passengers by rail

Definition:

The number of all passengers carried by standard gauge and narrow gauge railway lines on passenger slow, fast and express trains (including passengers transported in sleeping cars and in wagons with berths) with paid tickets and passengers availing of free charge tickets on the basis of separate provisions of law as part of national and international transport.

1. The number of passengers carried in national transport is determined based on the number of sold tickets for trips.
2. The number of passengers carried in international transport is determined:
a) for departure from Poland abroad with direct tickets on international transport - based on the number of tickets sold,
b) for arrival to Poland from abroad and for transit through the territory of Poland, with direct tickets on international transport, purchased abroad - based on respective documents sent in by the managing boards of foreign railways of the countries in which the respective tickets were purchased by passengers.
When the number of passengers carried in international transport is determined, each ticket is reported as being for the number of passengers for whom it was issued.
