Number of employees and self-employed persons
Definition:
The average number of persons who, at any moment during the reference period, performed work either as employees — that is, persons in an employment relationship providing regular services in return for remuneration, excluding services constituting independent economic activity, including apprentices performing work under conditions corresponding to an employment relationship — or as self-employed persons, being sole owners or co-owners of the entity in which they perform work, together with working family members and home workers whose income depends on the value of output produced; the average number of such persons shall be determined as the arithmetic mean of the number of persons performing work in the shortest possible equal time intervals within the reference period for which regular observation is feasible.
