The total amount of income earned by all persons forming a joint household during a specific accounting period, after deduction of applicable taxes, social security and health insurance contributions, and other statutory deductions, derived from various sources, in particular from employment, business activities, social security benefits and other income from assets. Household income forms the basis for assessing financial circumstances when determining entitlement to public benefits.

Various forms of support, such as family allowances, one-off childbirth grants and the 800+ benefit, are not taken into account when calculating income.
