Formal education


Definition:

Education provided by public and non-public schools and other educational entities, higher education institutions and other higher education and scientific institutions, within the framework of programmes which lead to obtaining full qualifications awarded on completion of specific stages of education, qualifications awarded on completion of postgraduate studies, or qualifications in a profession, confirmed by a certificate of professional competence or a professional diploma.



Formal education is conducted in accordance with approved curricula. It is based on standards adopted in the education system, including tertiary education, approved by applicable legal regulations. It leads to qualifications confirmed by a certificate or diploma.
