An association of several organisations established to conduct joint scientific activities, educate doctoral students, and award academic degrees or degrees in the field of art.

A federation may be established by: a public university-type higher education institution with another public university-type higher education institution, a research institute, an institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences or an international institute, or a non-public university-type higher education institution with a non-public university-type higher education institution.
