Global agricultural output
Definition:
In the Economic Accounts of Agriculture (RER), according to the Eurostat methodology (Regulation (EC) No 138/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 December 2003 on the economic accounts for agriculture in the Community), agricultural output also includes all agricultural production regardless of the NACE Rev.2 in which they are classified.
RER uses data from gross agricultural output on crop output: market output, own-consumption, products from own output that were utilised for production purposes and increase in inventories.
Similarly in the case of animal production and data on import and export of livestock production.
In the Economic Accounts for Agriculture (EAA), agricultural output represents the sum of output by all units in the industry (excluding output for intermediate consumption by the same unit), plus output used as intermediate consumption by the same unit, provided this output concerns two different basic activities (such as crop products intended for use as animal feedingstuffs).
In the case of crop output, the differences compared to gross agricultural output result, among others, from reducing the global production in EAA by losses and seeds.
According to the methodology, EAA output also includes the value of non-agricultural secondary activities of agricultural units, the cost of which cannot be excluded from the agricultural activity, and agricultural services output.
