Generalfertility rate


Definition:

Ratio of the number of live births in a given period to the number of women in the reproductive age (15–49).



The rate is calculated for periods not shorter than one year. It expresses the average number of children born during the given period per 1000 women (or 100 women) in the reproductive age.
