Total fertility rate

Definition:

Means the number of children that would be born on average by a woman during her whole reproductive period (15–49 years), assuming that in particular phases of this period she would give birth to children with the intensity observed in a given year, i.e. the age-specific fertility rates are treated as constant.

Total fertility rate is calculated based on sum of the age-specific fertility rates.
