Stillbirth


Definition:

The complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of an foetus, if the pregnancy duration reached 22 weeks, that after such expulsion or exctraction does not breath or show any other sign of life, such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord or muscle contractions depending on the will.
For the purposes of statistics the medical documentation concerning the perinatal period should contain all foetuses that weighted at least 500 grams at the moment of birth and – if the birth weight is unknown – born after at least 22 weeks of the pregnancy duration or reached 25 cm of the body length (from the crown to the heel).
