Business Register


Definition:

Database for all statistical units, the main purpose of its existence is to provide information used in the creation of frames for all statistical surveys carried out by public statistics regarding the activities of units with the exception of farms run by a natural persons.This database includes all types of units subjected to statistical observations, identifies units participating in the surveys, has attributes describing the units, which is necessary to impose statistical obligations and support the presentation of the results. It is the basis for statistical analysis of the enterprises in terms of their population and demography. It is permanently updated from various available sources, ensure correct course of all statistical surveys conducted by the units of public statistics via Reporting Portal.



The legal basis for the establishment of Business Register (BR) is an art. 10 of the Law on official statistics of 29 June 1995 (Journal. Laws No. 88, item. 439, as amended), which authorizes public statistics to use the individual data collected in surveys of official statistics to create a sampling frame for statistical surveys conducted by the official statistical services. In addition, BR meets the requirements of the Regulation of the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EC) No 177/2008 of 20 February 2008. establishing a common framework for business registers for statistical purposes and repealing Council Regulation (EEC) No 2186/93 (OJ. Gazette. EU L 61, 05.03.2008, p. 6). The scope of the BR comprises legal units (corporate persons, organizational units without legal personality, enterprises of natural persons), local units (registered in REGON), local conventional units (called a local kind of activity units - LKAU) they are objects of statistical surveys, enterprises, groups of enterprises.
