Average error of estimation

Definition:

Measure of linear regression line fit to empirical data, using the so-called residuals, ie the difference between the actual and theoretical values of the dependent variable in the regression analysis: The measure determines if the average value of the dependent variable determined on the basis of the regression function differs from its empirical value. The lower the average estimation error, the better the matching of the regression function to the real data, which is associated with a smaller error resulting from the estimation of the dependent variable value based on the regression function.
