Pseudorandom numbers

Definition:

Numbers generated using a computer based on a suitable algorithm. They make a random impression, as it is usually very difficult to find any fixed order in them. Moreover, by means of appropriate tests of randomness, conformity and independence, it appears that the pseudorandom numbers from modern generators have in fact the same statistical properties as random numbers (hence, these two terms are often identified).
