Entitled to vote


Definition:

A person included in the list of voters whose voting rights are particularized in the art. 10 of the Election Code.



The right to vote (active electoral right) is held by:

1.) in elections to the Sejm and the Senate and in the election of the President of the Republic - a Polish citizen who is at least 18 years old on the day of the vote;

2.) in elections to the European Parliament in the Republic of Poland - a Polish citizen who is at least 18 years old on the day of the vote, and a citizen of the European Union who is not a Polish citizen, who is at least 18 years old on the day of the vote, and who permanently resides on the territory of the Republic of Poland;

3.) in elections to the bodies of local government units:

a) the council of a gmina - a Polish citizen, a citizen of the European Union who is not a Polish citizen and a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who is at least 18 years old on the day of the vote and who permanently resides in the area of that municipality,

b) the council of a powiat and the voivodship sejmik (assembly) - a Polish citizen who is at least 18 years old on the day of the vote and who permanently resides in the area of the respective powiat and voivodeship;

4.) in elections for the head of a given gmina - a person who has the right to vote for the council of that gmina.
