Ecological funds (National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and the Voivodship Environmental Protection and Water Management Funds) are environmental protection institutions operating on the principles set out in the Act of Environmental Protection Law.

The funds are intended to finance, in whole or in part, activities related to environmental protection and water management. They are powered by, among others, environmental payments and fees, and from fines for violating environmental protection requirements.
