Compulsory education


Definition:

Compulsory education obligation in Poland is fulfilled by attending 8-year primary school or lower secondary school. Compulsory education starts at the beginning of the school year, in the calendar year when a child becomes 7 years old (unless the application of compulsory education is postponed for the child) and is continued until graduation from 8-year primary school or lower secondary school, but no longer than when a person becomes 18 years old. Additionally, children aged 6 are obliged to attend one-year pre-school preparatory class, preparing for primary education.
