Population equivalent (P.E.)


Definition:

Population equivalent is a number expressing the ratio of the sum of the pollution load in wastewater to the individual pollution load in household sewage produced by one person in the same time. In Poland, the BOD5 load from 1 person is assumed to be equal 60 g O2 per 24 hours.
