Foster family


Definition:

A form of family foster care which provides a child with a round-the-clock care and upbringing, in which may be placed not more than 3 children or persons that reached the age of majority while being under foster care.



The foster family fulfil child's needs, especially emotional, development, health, living, social and religious needs; assures education, compensation of development and school-related deficiencies; provides access to eligible healthcare services; assures the development of talents and interests; enables contacts with parents and other close persons, unless otherwise decided by a court.

Foster families are divided into: 1) related, 2) not-professional, 3) professional: including the professional one that performs the function of a family emergency house and professional specialist one.
