Institution related to museum


Definition:

A non-profit organisational unit whose purpose is permanent protection of culture, science and technology and nature goods, which is not having "museum" status entity but is recognized as being of museum nature.



In accordance with the classification developed by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), and recommended by UNESCO, institution related to museum may be: zoological garden (all it forms like aquarium, terrarium etc.), botanical garden, natural reserve (for which the records of visitors' access are kept, usually presenting also a given set of exhibits or thematic exhibitions, such as caves, water reservoirs, or parks), historical monument, other unit, such as planetarium, science and technology camp and centre, as well as other permanent exhibition which is not museums, but which display certain achievements, inventions and curiosities in the field of history, archaeology, culture, nature, technology, etc.
