Municipal sewage sludge


Definition:

Sludge coming from fermentation tanks and other equipment used to treat municipal sewage as well as other sewage with a composition similar in nature to municipal sewage. Sludge created during the sewage treatment process should be processed and subsequently used accordingly, utilized or made harmless. Processing of sludge includes the following processes: - concentrating raw sludge to a level of 94-96% dehydration; - decay of approximately 50% of the dry organic matter include in such sludge using oxygen or oxygen free stabilization methods; - dehydration of stabilized sludge to a level of 60-75% water content depending on the type of used equipment as well as subsequent undertaken steps; - final disposal of sludge or use of sludge outside of the sewage treatment plant.
