Organizational unit of a hospital as defined in the Act on medical activity, being a unit of the medical emergency system.

Hospital emergency ward provides health care services involving the initial diagnosis and the treatment necessary for the stabilization of vital functions to persons affected by sudden health threats. Hospital emergency ward must meet specific requirements of the Regulation.
