Methodological description

Gross domestic product (GDP) deflator - deflator reflects changes in the price level of all final goods and services produced in the country.

It is calculated as the ratio of GDP at current (nominal) prices to GDP at constant (real) prices.

The data used to calculate GDP deflator are obtain on the basis of statistical surveys described in the Statistical Surveys Program of Official Statistics (PBSSP), within the survey 1.67.03 - Quarterly accounts, as well as from administrative sources.

The definition and the method of estimating the value of GDP and its components are fully compliant with European law, i.e. Regulation (EU) No 549/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on the European system of national and regional accounts in the European Union – ESA 2010.

The GDP deflator is used, among others, to make decisions regarding economic and fiscal policy. The GDP deflator level also provides information for developing economic growth forecasts and various macroeconomic analyses conducted by international institutions and research institutes.
