Price index of construction and assembly production is calculated on the basis of monthly survey on prices of works representatives (about 3 500 a year) realized by specifically selected economic units (about 480 a year) included in the section “Construction” according to the Polish Classification of Activities (PKD), employing 10 and more persons. The observation covered prices calculated on the basis of the current cost-price basis of the units concerned according to a commonly used methods of construction and assembly production price calculation.

Price indices at the level of economic unit are calculated as weighted averages of price indices of the representatives applying as the weight system their sales value in a reference month. The weight system for an aggregated calculation of price indices of the construction and assembly production is based on the sales structure realized in 2005 by economic units employing 10 and more persons. The system recognizes changes in prices and changes in the sales structure occurring in the successive months of the year to which the price indices refer.

Quarterly price index of construction and assembly production in relation to the previous quarter is used to increase amounts of the subsequent repayments of debt (starting with the first repayment) from credits received from the National Housing Economy Fund for investment-construction ventures.
