In 2011, the Statistical Office in Katowice worked in close cooperation with the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT) within the project entitled Support the development of the Georgian System of Statistics in the field of regional accounts. Transfer of knowledge required to create the methodology of calculations of select macroeconomic categories by territorial breakdown.
The knowledge necessary to work out the methodology of gross domestic product (GDP) calculation and its elements at the regional level was shared with Georgian statisticians. Essential information concerning the system of national and regional accounts was provided to Georgian statisticians during a series of trainings on regional accounts compilations rules, which were carried out within the project. Experience and practical solutions tested in Polish statistical system have also been set forth. Activities undertaken within the project resulted in drawing up the conclusions and recommendations on elaboration of the regional accounts methodology and conducting calculations. Moreover, the results included preparation and release of a methodology manual for regional accounts.
