The sudden and massive migration of Ukrainians to Poland, caused by the outbreak of war on February 24, 2022, posed a huge challenge to the state administration. The scale of the phenomenon had a major impact on Poland's labor market, and has significantly affected Poland’s education and health care systems.

There was an information need related to the new wave of refugees. The Statistical Office in Rzeszów, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Statistical Office in Lublin, tried to live up to these expectations. Therefore between June and August 2022 they conducted a survey of refugees in the border provinces of Podkarpackie voivodeship  and Lubelskie voivodeship to identify their actual needs and expected scope of long-term assistance and support. The aim of the survey was to obtain basic information about refugees from Ukraine who left their country across the Polish-Ukrainian border in 2022. It was particularly important to identify their health needs.
