11-13 September 2019, in Lublin, an international scientific conference entitled Metropolises and Peripheries of CEE Countries: New Challenges for EU, National and Regional Policies will be held. The event will organised by the Regional Studies Association (RSA) and the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, in partnership with the Statistical Office in Lublin, National Bank of Poland, Lublin City Office, Regional Studies Association - Polish Section, and the Centre for European Regional and Local Studies - EUROREG.

The main objective of the conference is to debate the challenges facing European, national and regional policy in the context of polarisation of social and economic development in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The project also aims to integrate representatives of the scientific community, policy makers, planners and practitioners in the field of regional research, regional development and regional policy.

On 12 September, the host of the plenary session "New Statistics - New Opening" will be Statistics Poland. The President of Statistics Poland, among others, will deliver a speech during the session.
