The study presents the results of research that covered vehicles with a maximum permissible laden weight (MPLW) of up to 3.5 tonnes (excluding special purpose vehicles). The main objective of the study was to test the methodology developed by Eurostat and the working group on light utility vehicles by implementing a pilot data collection, as well as to assess the feasibility of collecting the required information regarding the usage of these vehicles, including measuring the scale of transport and travel distances in the light utility vehicle (LUV) segment.

The innovative nature of the work results from the fact that public statistics have not yet been the subject of research, and the methodology developed and the definitions proposed by Eurostat are not yet commonly used.
