Blood donation

Description of the concept that applied to: 31.12.2017


Definition:

Blood donation is a social initiative aimed at the voluntary acquisition of blood from people in good health, either for the benefit of people requiring blood transfusion (e.g. during surgical treatment), or for use in the manufacture of blood derivative products.



The principles related to the collection of blood, the separation of its elements, its storing and marketing, as well as the issues related to the organisation of the public blood services, are regulated under the Act on Public Blood Services of 22 August 1997, Consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2017, item 1371
