The intelligent system for the production of road and maritime transport statistics using big data to shape the country's transport policy (TranStat)
The duration of the project: January 2019 - December 2021
The aim of the project is to modernise the production system of road and maritime transport statistics using large data sets (Big Data), new products introduction (i.e. the development of a methodology for the estimate of traffic volume, transport performance volume and volume of pollutants emitted by means of transport. Moreover, the objective of the project is to create conditions to conduct functional analyses and to manage of transport systems for modern planning and shaping the country's transport policy. As a part of the project implementation, mechanisms for downloading and processing data in real time ("Big Data") and implemented large data sets from sensors such as the Automatic Identification System (AIS) and Electronic Toll Collection System (viaTOLL) will be used.
Benefits for recipients:
- obtaining a wider range of resulting information made available in a short time after its acquisition, in the modern TranStat application available at https://transtat.stat.gov.pl/
- calculation of indicators previously unavailable to recipients: traffic volume, transport performance, emission of pollutants in transport,
- providing intelligent electronic forms, which translates into: reducing the burden related to the implementation of the reporting obligation, reducing the amount of work and time necessary to fill in the forms, improving the quality and completeness of information on vehicles and ships using the auto-complete data mechanism.
The recipients of the TranStat project and its products are:
- public administration,
- local government,
- the scientific community,
- international institutions,
- entrepreneurs and the media.
The project was implemented by the Consortium:
- Statistics Poland / Statistical Office in Szczecin (Leader),
- Cracow University of Technology
- Maritime University of Szczecin.
