Sejm Committee


Definition:

Authority of Parliament appointed to consider and prepare matters of the Sejm and to express opinions on matters submitted for their deliberation by the Sejm, the Speaker of the Sejm or the Presidium of the Sejm. It is a parliamentary control body in terms specified by the Constitution and individual laws.



The Sejm appoints standing commissions and may appoint ad hoc commissions and investigative commissions. When appointing ad hoc commissions, the Sejm determines the goal, principles and procedure of their operation. The mode of operation of the investigative commission is determined by law.
