A comprehensive analysis of issues related to the health status of the population and the functioning of the health care system in Poland. The study is based on up-to-date public statistics and serves as a reliable source of information supporting the assessment and monitoring of changes in the field of public health. The publication consists of an analytical part, a methodological part and a tabular annex. The analytical section presents, inter alia, issues related to the health status of the Polish population, human resources, and health care infrastructure, as well as the economic aspects of the health care system, while the tabular annex contains statistical data relating to these areas. In the current edition, the scope of the analysis has been expanded to cover new topics, including data on doctors and nurses in OECD countries and Ukrainian citizens employed in selected medical professions in Poland. The analytical text is complemented by numerous maps and charts, which clearly and transparently illustrate the findings of public statistics research. The methodological section provides, among others, key explanations regarding data collection and processing methods, characteristics of the information sources used, and definitions of terms applied in the publication. We encourage readers to consult other publications on health available on the website of Statistics Poland, as well as public statistics resources, including the Local Data Bank, Thematic Knowledge Bases. Correction of 29th January 2026 A correction has been made regarding psychiatric hospitals and alcohol detoxification centers for 2024. Changes to the text have been made on pages 25, 32, 77-79 and in the tabular annex in table 40. Charts 2.11 and 2.18 on pages 77 and 87 as well as data in table 2.2 on page 88 have been corrected. |
