Commune mayor (mayor, and city mayor)


Definition:

Single-person executive body of municipality. The mayor is the executive body of municipality in which the seat of government is located in the city that lies in the territory of municipality. In cities with more than 100 thousand residents the executive body is the mayor, in other units – the commune mayor.



Commune mayor (mayor, city mayor) acts on the resolutions of the municipalities council and the tasks of the municipality defined by the law, including preparing drafts of resolutions of the municipality council and determines the form of their execution. His exclusive competence include management of municipal property and execution of the budgetary performance and hiring superintendents to municipality organizational units. In carrying out the tasks of the municipality, commune mayor (mayor, city mayor) is subject only to the municipality council.
