“Wiadomości Statystyczne. The Polish Statistician” (“WS”) monthly journal is addressed to people interested in the development of statistical theory and practice in the information system of the country, and especially to the scientific community of statisticians and economists, teachers, students, employees of official statistics and social institutions.
“WS” – issued since 1956 – continue the tradition of the “Statistical Quarterly” magazine, published in the 1920s and 1930s.
Before the Second World War (October 1923-August 1939) and in the post-war years (August 1945-November 1951), Statistics Poland also published a periodical entitled “Wiadomości Statystyczne” (“Statistical News”), however, of a different nature – it provided numerical information about the state and socio-economic development of the country; therefore, it should not be identified with the currently published journal.
Since 2007, the “WS” has been included on the list of Polish evaluated scientific journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of 18 December 2015 on the list of scientific journals together with the number of points awarded for publication in these journals, the “WS” received 12 points.
All issues of „WS” published since 1965 inclusively are available in digital repertory of the Central Statistical Library http://cbs.stat.gov.pl.
The monthly journal is indexed in the databases of scientific journals: POL-index, CEJSH, BazEkon and AGRO.
