The Demographic Atlas of Poland is the first graphic publication prepared by Statistics Poland in many years. The Atlas presents a broad range of the most important demographic processes in Poland.

The study is a summary of regional demographic conferences organized by the public statistics and the Government Population Council which aimed to picture demographic problems and challenges faced by the Polish regions. Currently observed demographic trends also constitute a crucial context for the implementation of the European Union’s cohesion policy.

The publication comprises graphs and statistical maps depicting the state and demographic changes of the country, voivodships, powiats or gminas, as well as selected data for the EU countries and regions (NUTS 2).

The demographic processes presented in the Atlas refer to the years 1950–2016 and population projection until 2040. More detailed data are presented for 2016 in reference years 1990 and 2000. In addition, the study includes a chapter on the censuses since 1921. The main sources of data used in the publication are the information resources of the official statistics, while the cross-country and crossregion comparisons of the phenomena are based on the Eurostat data.
