In July and August 2022, 1.8 million tourists were accommodated in tourist accommodation establishments located in coastal areas, and 8.5 million overnight stays were provided for them. Compared to the same period last year, the number of tourists was higher by 2.4%, and number of overnight stays decreased by 2.0%.

Consumer prices in October 2022 compared with the corresponding month of the previ-ous year, increased by 17,9% (with an increase of prices of goods – by 19,5% and services – by 13,0%). As related to the previous month consumer prices increased by 1,8% (of which goods – by 2,1% and services – by 0,7%).

According to the flash estimate, gross domestic product (GDP) in volume terms seasonally unadjusted was higher by 3.5% in the 3rd quarter of 2022 year-to-year against 6.5% increase in the corresponding period of 2021.

In 2021, 173 firms conducted biotechnology activities, which constitutes a decrease by 2.3% in comparison to the previous year. Biotechnology intramural expenditures incurred by firms amounted to PLN 1380.9 million and increased by 13.2% on an annual basis. In 2021, 3953 persons were employed in biotechnology in firms. Biotechnology research and experimental development was conducted by 217 entities, that is, by 4.4% less in comparison with the previous year. Biotechnology R&D intramural expenditures amounted to PLN 1184.7 million and increased by 8.7% annually. 8202 persons were involved in biotechnology research and experimental development.

As at the end of October 2022 the REGON register included 4 973.8 thous. of national economy entities, i.e. by 0.3% more than a month before (3.3% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year).

In the third quarter of 2022, there were 93 970 registrations of enterprises recorded i.e. 10.3% more than in the corresponding period of previous year and 69 enterprises declared bankruptcy i.e. 12.7% less than in the corresponding period of previous year.

In Poland, 28.4% of persons aged 15-89 engaged in volunteering in the first quarter of 2022. On average, one person spent 10 hours working as a volunteer. Taking into account the socio-demographic characteristics, the highest share of volunteers was recorded among persons with higher education (36.7%).

Impact of changes on the main macroeconomic aggregates of 7 October 2022, Statistics Poland publishes updated quarterly estimate of gross domestic product (GDP) for years 2010-2021, consistent with the annual data, and corrected data for the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2022 year.
