Occupancy of tourist accommodation establishments in 2023

In 2023, 36.2 million tourists were accommodated in tourist accommodation establishments, with 92.8 million overnight stays. Compared to 2022, it was more by 5.8% and 3.2%, respectively. The occupancy rate of bed places in all tourist accommodation establishments in 2023 amounted to 40.5% and was higher by 0.1 percentage point compared to the previous year.

Price indices of residential premises in the fourth quarter of 2023

In the fourth quarter of 2023 prices of residential premises in Poland, compared to the third quarter of 2023, increased by 4.8%. On the primary market the increase amounted 6.3% and on the secondary market – 3.3%. Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2022, prices of residential premises increased by 13.0% (of which on the primary market – by 14.3% and on the secondary market – by 11.6%).

Financial results of banks in 2023

In 2023 the net financial result of the banking sector amounted to PLN 27.6 bn, compared to PLN 10.6 bn in 2022. The balance sheet total increased by 10.3% y/y and amounted to PLN 2 994.8 bn. The value of loans for the non-financial sector decreased by 1.9% y/y to PLN 1 147.2 bn, while the value of deposits of this sector increased by 10.2% y/y to PLN 1 803.4 bn.

Financial results of insurance companies in 2023

The overall net financial result of insurance companies in 2023 was more favorable than a year ago and amounted to PLN 9.5 billion. This was due to a better result obtained by both life insurance companies (Branch I) and non-life insurance companies (Branch II).

Analysis of business cycles based on complex (synthetic / aggregated) indicators synthetically describing the business cycle fluctuations in the entire economy, carried out as part of the work of experimental statisticsThe coincident (COINC) and leading (LEAD) aggregated business tendency index have been estimated. The coincident (simultaneous) index reflects the current business tendency, while the leading business tendency index shows the future business tendency at a specific time in advance.
